Why Are There Special Wrinkle Creams For The Eyes?
Eye wrinkle creams are fast becoming a popular cosmetic product, not only because they are specifically used to target one area where wrinkles are common, but also because they work very well in reducing the appearance of wrinkles around the eye area.
Many females have tried using normal anti-wrinkle cream around the delicate area of the eyes, only to find that there has been irritation to the area, or the cream is extremely ineffective. There are a number of scientific reasons for this, and if you were to read the back of the bottle of a generic wrinkle cream - you will likely find an indication that it is not for use around the eyes.
So, does this mean that the only way to get rid of eye area wrinkles is to use a specialty product? We asked the experts to find out.
Expert Opinion on Eye Wrinkle Cream
We interviewed two leading professionals who actively work in the cosmetic industry, to see what their opinion on eye wrinkle creams was. Interestingly, they both gave very similar responses to each other. The main themes in their responses were:
- Eye creams are highly targeted lotions.
- Sensitively of the eye area is a major consideration with the products.
- Eye wrinkle creams should only be used on the eye area.
These three underlying messages were very clear from our interviews with the experts. However, we wanted to take this a step further. Why is it, even if eye wrinkle creams are highly targeted to the eye area, that they won't work in other places of the body where wrinkles occur - such as between the eyebrows or on the forehead?
Eye Wrinkle Cream Is Area Specific
The responses we got were all centred on the fact that the skin around the eyes has a vastly different composition in comparison to skin in other places of the body. For example, the dermal layer around the eyes is much thinner than that of the forehead.
For this reason, an alternate formula was required when treating eye wrinkles in a laboratory setting. This was quickly discovered as a common theme among all women (and not just an isolated case), and hence - the general public are now offered both normal anti-wrinkle cream, and specialty eye wrinkle cream.
